Design that Lives on the Roof

ARCHITECTURE ON SLOPED ROOFS. Creating from waste. Handmade rooftop structures, built in a simple and accessible way. Roofs are often hidden, unused, and only seen as protection from rain. But what if instead of only covering and hiding, they became places to openly experience and observe from above? The designer’s financial situation as a student, which coincided with her philosophy of life, dictated the design method – building from waste. Materials were tied together using an ancient technique – lashing. The project’s result – a handbook with instructions, examples, and most importantly, inspiration on how to build a platform on a sloped-roof yourself.
