Terrain is the lay of the land

Combining “digital moulding” and 3D clay printing techniques results in a modern craftwork model “make by hand – scan – modify – print”, and aesthetics of organic forms with a texture resembling terrain layers. This model was used to create a series of conceptual ceramic vessels “Terrain is the lay of the land”. All objects were made by modifying one scanned plate. Modern digital technologies extend possible ways to produce and reproduce craft, question notions of uniqueness, materiality, the link between software and handwork, and ultimately – the link between the physical and the digital.
