Coexistence with the River. The Case of the Urbanised Neris Riverfront

A river in the city is often framed by urban structures, losing free flow and becoming integrated into a human-designed spatial order. This raises the question of how the relationship between river and city could be reimagined if the river is understood as an autonomous living system where diverse forms of life meet. Such a perspective would create a reciprocal relationship open to biodiversity, with humans as one of many components. It suggests not only a transformation but also an understanding of coexistence. This project examines urbanised Neris River banks in Vilnius, where sensitivity to other lifeforms has diminished.
